The Drawing Board - Summer 2021
SUMMER 2021
PROJECT OF THE MONTH
DUNHAM MASSEY, ALTRINCHAM
Dunham Massey, a National Trust House, Garden and Ancient Deer Park in Altrincham created a new visitor entrance and welcome centre (completed 2016). Our design sought to address the level changes and provide a vibrant and inviting landscape to visitors. A pictorial meadow on the grass banks draws pedestrian movement into the garden and house entrance. Existing Rhododendrons and trees were incorporated and celebrated within the design through the placement of ornamental planting and circulation routes. SKETCHBOOK
This 3D model was created with One17 Architects for a recent planning application for a former Mill in Holmfirth, Yorkshire. The existing Mill is to be given a new lease of life as apartments amongst a new residential development. Native tree planting, marginal species and ornamental shrubs and herbaceous plants will echo the character of the Holme Valley and create a rich habitat for wildlife.
BEFORE & AFTER
This property entrance was reimagined with a larger turning area, feature topiary, hedging and planting against the building. The planting is used to soften and ground the building within the wider landscape setting.
BEHIND THE SCENES
As part of our commitment to carbon offsetting and environmental stewardship we recently donated and planted some fruit trees as part of a community vegetable garden in Peel Hall Park, Manchester. The fruit trees will be cared for by the Friends of Peel Hall Park and local residents.
